Fambooks

Fambooks is a reading record for the whole family — made to be kept for decades and handed down.

Take a photo of the cover, type the title, done. That is all it asks. Later, add a line about what you thought, a photo of a page you loved, a rating, a tag. Over the years the shelves fill up: yours, your partner's, your children's. One day your child will open the app and see what you were reading the year they were born — and what you wrote about it.

WHY FAMILIES USE IT

WHAT IT DOES
• Bookshelf by year — covers sit on shelves, the newest year at the bottom, older years above.
• Notes on paper — write on plain, lined, grid, or yellow paper. The paper you chose is kept with the note forever.
• Photos — cover photos and page photos, stored at print quality.
• Family tree — parents, partner, children, grandparents. Everyone's shelf, one tap away.
• Timeline — by date, or by age, so you can compare lives side by side.
• Comments and recommendations between family members, with a reason. No algorithms.
• Private books and a password lock for a shelf, with an optional "reveal on" date — a letter to the future.
• Full backup to a plain ZIP file that opens without the app.

WHAT IT DOESN'T DO — ON PURPOSE
• No server. No account. Nothing you write ever reaches us.
• No AI. No automatic recommendations, no summaries, no text recognition. Every connection between books is made by
you.
• No internet needed. Everything works offline; Google Drive is optional.
• No ads, no analytics, no tracking.

FAMILY SHARING, WITHOUT A LOGIN
Your records live on your device. When you want to share, tap "Put on Drive": the app creates a folder in your own
Google Drive and gives you a link. Send the link to family by email or message. They read it without signing in. If
they want to write too, they sign in to their own Google account and get their own folder — every family member owns
their own records, in their own Drive.

If a family member's account ever disappears, the records their family already received stay on those devices, and one
tap keeps them in the family's own Drive for the next generation.

PRICE
Free for the first 14 days after you register your first book. After that, adding new records takes a one-time lifetime licence — USD 6.99 in the US, no subscription. One licence per Google account that records. One licence covers everyone living with you, recorded on one device (no per-family-member fees) — but a family member who starts recording on their own account, like a grown child, gets their own licence. Same account, any number of devices, never pay twice. Reading, comments, recommendations, family sharing, backup and export are always free, for everyone, forever — grandparents who only read never pay.

BUILT TO LAST
Your records are plain JSON files and JPEG photos in a folder you can open on any computer. No proprietary format. If
this app disappeared tomorrow, your family's reading history would still be readable in thirty years.

Recent changes:
The family tree now shows more of your family.

• Siblings and their spouses are now drawn on the tree.
• Grandparents appear by default; older generations can be expanded.
• Long-press a family member listed under "Other family" to connect them to the tree.
• Adding a spouse now also links them as parent to existing children.
