FEAT VPN for OpenVPN

★★★★★ Phenomenal App! Thank you. This app absolutely works like a champ on my HTC Sensation. After having read for the last year how openVPN could not be run from Android without rooting, I had all but given up hope. I didn't want to root my phone, even though I did want openVPN. I use Witopia VPN for my pc's, and in a perfect world I would be able to use that same subscription for my phone. Well, the perfect world arrived! Although I'm not highly technically adept, Feat's development/support team gave me almost immediate assistance in figuring out how to configure for Witopia, and it turned out to be a breeze. The final result is a client that connects dramatically faster than even Witopia's own client on my pc's. The Feat team are wizards for both the great product and the great support. You don't get this kind of support from the big guys (or at least I don't ;-)). After getting it working, I immediately upgraded to the paid version and can't thank them enough. See their support forum for the detailed "how to". BTW, if they are smart, Witopia or one of the other big VPN players will probably buy them out for big bucks, so get it now while you can.

★★☆☆☆ Must do better Bought it because my VPN provider (HMA) mentioned it, wish I hadn't. The UI is poor. For example, if you're adding tunnels by ZIP, it isnt clear when its actually done. If your VPN provider has multiple servers/locations (as they do) that you might want to use, then you have to enter (the same) user and password for every one. It should be possible to do this once. But worse..it then didn't even work properly. It said it connected to the VPNs (tried several HMA servers in the UK). and the browser seemed to working through them, but TuneIn didn't - the BBC stations spotted that I wasn't in the UK. That doesn't happen if I just define a VPN directly in Android. I then tried rebooting the phone and then FEAT VPN FC-ed. Every time. It also needs to allow specification of what apps use the VPN and what don't. Just because I want TuneIn to use the VPN doesn't mean (from a security standpoint) that I want all of the phones internet activity to go through it. All in all, a waste of a evening and some money. Very disappointed. This is on a popular Gingerbread ROM for the Acer LMT that has no other problems.
