EMERGENCY SERVICE SYMBOLOGY FireMapper includes firefighting symbols that are commonly used in Australia, NZ, USA and Canada with support for: - Australasian All Hazards Symbology Set - USA Interagency Wildfire Point Symbols - NZIC (New Zealand) Symbols - FireMapper also includes symbology for urban operations/planning, search and rescue, and impact assessment.
GPS RECORDING You can record lines on the map using your device GPS.
DRAW LINES You can quickly draw lines on the map using your finger.
FIND LOCATION - Search for locations using different coordinate formats (4 figure, 6 figure, 14 figure, lat/lng, utm and more)
OFFLINE SUPPORT - Maps can be created offline without an Internet connection. Base map layers are cached for use offline.

We have used this app for Cultural burning, wildlife surveys, feral animal and weed surveys, to track work for weed management jobs. It's been really good so far. We like the huge variety of icons to use, and it's easy to draw and mark polygons. Works fine offline, but sometimes is slow to load different layers when offline, but probably not the app's fault.

The app I've been waiting for Great app so far one feature that would be useful for this app would be the ability to place a marker on your current location ie if you double tap or hold the smoker icon it puts it where you are now safe having to worry about inaccurate place markers.

Love the App, one feature that would be handy is to be able to say enter a bearing from a waypoint and give a distance. So that you could more easly locate smoke sightings etc. Would this be possible.

Doesn't scale well for incidents involving more than one or two crews. Difficult to share data and impossible to merge updated data between users. Doesn't import existing GIS data. Need to be able to copy maps, so you can create an incident map from an existing pre-incident map.

GPS doesn't work, otherwise great for mapping out hazard reduction burns and wildfires. Just sucks having to zoom in and out to find my exact location. Can only use in conjunction with other apps that actually have GPS

Pity you can't add lines as it makes the android version of this app fairly useless.

No lines option Without being able to draw lines that represent fire front, dozerlines, completed line it is just a fancy map with no tactical use. Look forward to the updated version.
