Description
The Fluid Lore 3D application is a fast, three-dimensional and configurable fluid mechanics simulation sandbox-demo, which is based on numerical solving of Navier-Stokes equations describing this mechanics. To achieve enough computation performance, in the application only a strongly simplified version of those equations were used. A simulated fluid is set in a transparent container, and a force applies on it. A direction of this force depends on a tilt of a smartphone/tablet. This means that the fluid flows in the direction in which the device is tilted. Current direction of that force presents a green arrow on the top of the screen. In the container besides the fluid, walls can be placed, fluid sources and drainage grates, through which the fluid flows out of the container. The user can position those elements wherever he/she wants to in the container. The user has also the possibility to set the size and rotate them. In this way, the user can create unique configurations of fluid flow paths. Additionally the application allows to define a look of the fluid by changing certain fluid properties, such as transparency, light reflection and refraction and colors. Also there are two, a little different types of simulation algorithms, that create two, a little different fluid consistencies. Due to the fact, that a considerable amount of computing power is required to compute the simulation of the fluid mechanics, the application provides options that allows to utilize a device compute capability as much as possible: The user can select the best amount of simultaneously working compute threads. Thus the user can adjust the application to the amount of available CPU cores of his/her device. Also the user can adjust the scale of the simulation (or the size of fluid container), to best fit the capabilities of his/her device. All of the changes made by the user can be saved in the user settings. There are also several built-in settings packs defined, so the user can quickly start to use the application. A very detailed instruction which explains how to use the application is also provided. The application has English and Polish translations.
