Four Courts 100 lets you explore one of Ireland’s most important national landmarks, which has evolved and re-emerged for over 200 years.
This app follows the history of the Four Courts from when it was first built to its reconstruction after the Battle of the Four Courts in 1922. Learn about the three tumultuous days of the battle and how they led to a defining moment in Irish History – the Civil War.
Discover how the Courts Service have adapted to the digital age, by adopting new innovative ways to hold court hearings and cases remotely. Catch a glimpse of the stunning 3D recreation of the Public Records Office, destroyed in the battle of 1922. It will soon be unveiled as part of Ireland’s Virtual Record Treasury to be launched on 27 June 2022.

Wonderful. And soon to be a portal to the lost works and records? One serious grievance. The timeline, for 1845, is incorrect. There was no famine. A famine is a nationwide lack of adequate food. This wasn't the case. There was widespread starvation while hundreds of thousands of tonnes of foodstuffs was exported. Yes there was a blight upon the potato but beef and mutton and oats and barley were shipped out. How in the name of justice can you make this mistake?
