Research shows that children with a stronger number sense tend to perform better on real math tests (Halberda et al., 2008). Four and five year old children who played digital number sense games demonstrated better math performance (on tests of counting, number identification, addition, etc.) compared to control groups, when tested right after a brief practice (Wang et al., 2016) or after several weeks of practice (Park et al., 2016). Very cute, simple game. I thought it had it's own unique educational values but I don't exactly agree with the age group this is made for. My son is 3 1\2 years old and in my opinion, is close to the pre-k age. Only the games were so confusing to him that he lost interest right away. If there were audio instructions to inform children that are not yet reading what the objective of each game is, then this might be fun for my son. And additionally, a demonstration before the start of each game showing little ones what more and less look like. Just highlighting the group with more or less doesn't really do the job in educating kids younger than 4-5. Otherwise, this app definitely has potential.
