Comments on Gander: PDF & Document Reader for Android

★★★★★ Sanu Kumar Jha · Sep 30, 2026

Make the header of the file disappear when scrolling through it. Give some theme options in settings, like AMOLED Black, Dark, Light, Material etc. Also, holding the recent file removes it. This is not ideal. Removal should be something like swipe left action. Shift the "Gander" to the left corner, this is how most of the apps design the UI.

It's bothered me that I can't easily open Open Document Spreadsheet files on my Android phone (without migrating to Google Sheets; I like keeping this data private). I tried some apps that promised to do so, but all were clunky at best, and sketchy at worst. Then came Gander, and WOW! Literally ANY file I throw at it opens fast and renders accurately, from a small ODS file to a 100 MB PDF with hundreds of color pages, and without ANY unnecessary permissions nor ads! A top-tier app! Thanks, Arjun!

This app is literally one of one. There simply isn't an app that, opens a whole range of documents including MS Office and OpenOffice, also deal with video and audio and view zip 'cause why not? Universally compatible, open-source, and lightweight. Thnx dev. PS. been using this app for quite a while now, congrats on getting it into play store.
