Description

A long time ago in a aland far far away the kingdow of Mariow was perished in chaos. Hords of monsters and hostile giants overran the army of the king. Several years later the marks of the battles are almost vanished, but there is still one retreat.
Fight through the dungeon and defeat all eight levels. Avoid traps and collect valuable treasures, to be victorious in the end.

This application is the remake of the action-adventure game for the Commodore 64, ColecoVision and Atari 8-bit family, developed by The Connelley Group and published by Epyx. It is a more action-oriented version, with smoother and faster graphics routines, more intuitive controls, fewer role-playing video game elements, and fewer room descriptions.

The player assumes the role of an unnamed adventurer, who tries to survive a series of increasingly difficult dungeon levels filled with both treasure and monsters. Each level is played within a freely selectable dungeon. Level 8 of the dungeon perpetually repeats until the player runs out of lives, ending the game.

I can only hope RedRene is working on updating other old games like this, maybe Legacy of the Ancients, nudge, nudge, wink, wink. ★★☆☆☆ Too difficult to play....in answer to your question, I find it very difficult to equip new items. So while I enjoy the game, I can't get past the second level. As for the controls, once you get used to them, they work okay. Besides that, the game is how I remember it...which is nice.

★★☆☆☆ I loved the original Temple of Apshai trilogy, but Gateway really doesn't do it for me. It's very simplistic compared to the original, and the arcade style gameplay is a real letdown.

★★☆☆☆ Not bad. Takes me back to a favorite game. However, the inventory management barely works. Swiping right to remove items almost never works, and double tap to equip is a bit flaky too. Would be good to have a better visual and auditory cue when a trap is activated. And the number of lives icon is a sword. That looks like an attack stat. Change it to a something more intuitive (a man?). Otherwise, this shows great promise
