GitJournal - Notes with Git

★★★★★ Fantastic app for syncing notes to a GitHub repo. Exactly what I was looking for. Works great! You can also pull down the repo on your computer, commit and push changes to your notes, and the app automatically syncs those changes. Very cool.

★★★★★ Great integration with Obsidian! Just open the git journal repo folder as Obsidian Vault.

★★★★★ Renaming note seems to create duplicates in the All Notes section. Git repo and the notes shown in Root Folder remain correct.

★★★★★ Found this app on Hacker News, and I am so happy. A free way to auto sync your markdown notes from multiple devices, but with mobile first built in mind using Git. It is free, but please support development with a one time purchase. I know development is expensive, but adding the monthly subscription back would be a nice way to support you without breaking the bank!

★★☆☆☆ I want to like this app, but it keeps corrupting files and lossing data (see other 2-star reviews). Incredible slow once file has more than a few hundred lines. Developer appears to have health issues which means limited support at the moment. Does not handle merge conflicts and no actual git intraction support (e.g. no log or diff support).

★★☆☆☆ A great idea, but so limited you can't even use it after download. I tried to load a file already in my git repo to see how things looked and how they worked. Can't! I tried adding the repo. Can't. Gitolite is controlled entirely by ssh keys. It wants *both* ssh keys (security violation) and a password (which gitolite doesn't use). Obviously not going to work for gitolite users. So, great idea. It would replace two apps I'm already using, but you've got to do better at the basics.
