Humans are self-reflective agents with the abilities to share knowledge and to cooperate flexibly in large numbers. Belief played an essential role in the development of these skills and effectively helped the homo sapiens to evolve. Not only religious establishments, but economic and political concepts formed our visions through the centuries.
Modern lifestyle seems too fast-moving to practice the rituals and tell the old stories inherited from our ancestors. But this does not mean the end of faith. On the contrary, people are more occupied with fabricating new beliefs and updating their mythology than ever before.
What shapes does faith take nowadays? And where to look for the share of religion in modern lifestyle?
Glue in Reality (GIR) observes the state of our time and gives a platform to think about new spirituality. The project embraces current tendencies and desires and synthesizes them into a new stream of mythology
Breaking up the present continuum and binding the fragments with new narratives is the pure mission of GIR.
To create the new archetype of faith, the project combines different media and gives a specific impression into the rituals and stories of our daily acting.
The focus is on eight characters, who are the spiritual representatives of contemporary movements like the beauty culture, special forms of diet, feminism or technocracy.
Normativ, transformed items, and characters garments are fused in the installations which are located in the real space. The visitors smartphone or tablet, or the devices installed in the exhibition space give an insight in to a virtual reality.
