Confirmed this does not work in Android 11. But it did work in my other phone that has Android 9. In Android 11, you probably do not need this app anymore. For example, in Google Maps permissions settings, if you set LOCATION PERMISSION to ALLOW ALL THE TIME, then Google Maps will keep pinging your gps even when your screen is turned off. Disable battery optimization for Google Maps, and allow to google to access background location all the time.

Exactly what I was looking for to improve the accuracy of Google Maps Timeline. While doing an excellent job it does not even consume crazy battery (LG G6). Just perfect to track my motorcycling trips and improve navigation if necessary.

Doesn't work. I adjusted the setting so that it could run unrestricted. Maps GPS still turned off after the screen was turned off.

Brilliant ! My Samsung S8+ killed my GPS off every time the screen turned off. I tried a few GPS apps with no success until I came across this one. (I keep the app 'locked') Problem solved ! Edit... It's stopped working for some reason. Changed to a different app... shame.
