Store listing
By MARKAROV.DEV, from Google Play“GPS speedometer in km/h for car or bike, with trip distance and max speed.”
Description by MARKAROV.DEV Written by the developer, not by AppBrain. Click to read.
Use it in a car with a phone mount, on a bike or e-scooter that has no speedometer of its own, on a boat or on foot. It is also a quick way to check the dial in your car.
What you get
• A large speed number on a dial. The arc is green, turns yellow past 60 km/h and red past 120.
• Your highest speed stays as a mark on the scale.
• A trip odometer that starts by itself after 20 seconds of movement. It shows distance and time as you go. The trip ends after three minutes standing still, and the summary then adds average and top speed. A stop at the lights does not end it.
• A speed alert: type a speed in settings and the phone beeps when you go above it.
• Optional clicks that come faster as you speed up, so you can follow your speed by ear.
• A chart of the last 15 seconds with lines at 60, 120 and 180 km/h, plus the minimum, average and maximum.
• A daylight scheme that stays readable in bright sun through the windscreen, and a night scheme for driving after dark.
• Share sends a picture of the dial at your top speed along with the figures.
• Record saves the speed of a session of up to 30 minutes to Saved measurements: chart, minimum, average, maximum, date and duration. Positions and the route are not saved.
• A home-screen widget with the last reading.
• Hold freezes the number. Reset clears the chart and the minimum, average and maximum.
• A table of everyday speeds on the About screen: walking 5 km/h, cycling 20, town 50, motorway 120.
Speed comes from satellites, so the app works without mobile data. Without a network the first fix can take longer. The screen stays on while the app measures. Location is used only to work out your speed. The route is not stored and is not sent anywhere. There are no ads.
Good to know
Speed is computed from GPS and lags a car's own speedometer by a second or two. In a tunnel or between buildings there is no signal and the number freezes. A car speedometer usually reads high, so a disagreement is normal rather than a fault. Indoors there is no signal either. Speed is shown in km/h only. The trip odometer and the speed alert work only while the app is open on screen. The app does not run in the background, and the trip odometer is not saved: Record keeps the speed of a session, not the route. On silent or vibrate the alert makes no sound. Set everything up before you drive and keep the phone in a mount.
Twenty saved sessions, the trip odometer, the speed alert, sharing, the dial and the chart are free. A one-time purchase adds report export and keeps up to 50 saved sessions instead of 20. There is no subscription.
The app sends anonymous usage statistics; you can turn this off in settings.
Independent development: one person builds and maintains this app. A letter to support@markarov.dev is read by that person, not by a support desk.
Recent changes:
New: a journal. Tap Record to save a trip's speed: chart, minimum, average, maximum and length. No coordinates or route are stored. Twenty trips are free; a one-time purchase, not a subscription, adds report export and room for 50.
New look: min/avg/max as tiles, buttons that respond to a press, info and settings as icons in the top bar.
Sharing adds a link to the app on Google Play as the last line.
