Play backgammon variants Tavli, Portes, Plakoto, Fevga and Narde against world class AI. Powered by Palamedes, the research project behind two Computer Backgammon Championship titles (2011, 2015).
Never get bored playing the same game. HappyGammon currently supports Greek variants (Portes, Plakoto, Fevga) and Narde. You can also play the traditional Greek variant Tavli where all three games are played in the same match!
HappyGammon is powered by the Palamedes research project. It uses neural-network AI trained on millions of self-play games with advanced reinforcement learning. Specialized algorithms support both individual money games and matches.

Although I enjoy this app very much I do however note that when it comes to
dice roll; statistically the CPU gets a much higher percentage of doubles.
This makes it very difficult to beat the opponent. Still I think this is
the best Tali available. Make the dice roll more random, and it will get 5
stars. Thank you.

Plays Plato Well! Great to see a tali app that can play Plato well. I tried another app (Backgammon GP) and it played Plato stupidly aggressive and like a total beginner. This app plays strong. But there does appear to be an annoying bug: sometimes when I switch apps or take a call, it doesn't save the game and starts from the beginning when I go back. Very annoying. It doesn't always happen, so I think it might be crashing sometimes. It would be nice to have that fixed. Also, sometimes it is a bit too picky about where you touch the screen and doesn't respond with the first try. Like others have said, the graphics a very plain, but it's free and what matters is how it plays. For those that say this app cheats, it does not. I've been playing it for several days and it plays fair. So many people complain about game apps with dice cheating that it's funny. Maybe the first couple of games that you played were just unlucky. If you want to prove it to yourself, keep track of all the dice rolls over several games and then check the distribution.

AI plays smart, but the luck of its rolls on expert level are completely unrealistic. I totally agree that there is a problem with the random generator, as these games do not reflect random numbers. The cpu had consistently small needs when needed, more doubles than me through 5 games, and landed on exactly the roll it needed to pin my piece in Plato every time. The game plays fine, but graphics are rather ugly, and dice and totally unrealistic. Uninstalled.

I played 2 game with 45 play for me and 46 play for the computer. I get 3 double he gets 15 he wins the 2 games because of the doubles in the second play he gets 3 double in a row at the end to win. So I highly doubt that the game doesn't cheat.
