No doublt this is similar to Paperback. I like the mechanic for using any
cards as wilds. The push your luck mechanic also work well. But the Genre
cards are what break this game for me. Very often it becomes who can
cumulate the same genre cards fastest win the game kind of scenario.
Doesn't really matter if you spell any long impressive words because a
3-letter word of the same genre can worth 10 stars. And if your opponent
can spell 3 or 4 of those you lose. Other than that, I think it is a fun
game, and it is different enough from Paperback. But I think Paperback is
more fair. By the way, can developer please add an undo function to buying
ink please? Sometimes I wanted to sell ink but pressed the wrong button for
buying instead. Can't seem to find a way to undo that.

Great version of a great game, with only one small caveat keeping it from a perfect score in digital form. Both Paperback and Hardback A.I. use words that are not allowed by the human players. Proper nouns are the biggest problems. It accepts it for them, but not the player. My wife and I have even tried using words that we saw the computer use and get scored, and we are not allowed. Other than that, both of these games are absolutely fantastic, especially for multiplayer with other humans!

Like 2 years after my original review and there are still large periods of time when no online games will appear and if I log out and try to log in, I get a "generic error" and can't log back in. I'm annoyed that I've paid for this and can't play with actual people. When it's not your turn, you can't open that game to see what you most recently did. When people stop playing there's no way to continue with AI or push a notification to them. So it just sits there.

Login is broken. I was able to create an account but couldn't log in. Some kind of generic HTTP error. Bought this to play multiplayer, so, pretty useless without that.

My wife and I have the actual card game version of this game and love it so much. The app, however, is extremely buggy, to the point that it's not even playable. For weeks now, I can't play online games with my wife (I'm sick in a hospital right now), which was the whole purpose of buying this game. Upon creating a new round, it simply disappears. How unfortunate!
