Say you're at a flea market and see a 48 Gbps HDMI cable with label saying it's certified. You scan it, reminder you must have cell service for app to work, and says it's not listed or fraudulent. What's hard for people to understand? I've used it many times at Best Buy and Target and numbers matched with sticker and specs, though it's highly unlikely Best Buy would sell fake anything TBH. It's more reassurance that the item is indeed genuine.

This app is mainly for audio & videophones who are making sure the cables they buy are legit and can carry the video & audio signals needed. Scanned #3 Monoprice hdmi cables & Rocket fish hdmi splitter that all had the hologram QR code. Worked fast & great, simple to use and navigate. Only issue, this is made more for someone in a wearhouse checking shipments of cables then the average consumer. Also, a history of all cables scanned in with their speed & manufact. Info would be nice.

Purchased cables that have issues, but show as being certified. So what's the point of certification if you can still receive garbage cables.

Instead of installing a whole app to prove my hdmi cord is certified it could have just been a website

What's the point? As others have said all this tells you is that the cable
is certified and who the manufacturer was. It would be much more useful if
it told you the specs of the cable, so you could verify you're receiving
what was advertised.
