HearGuard: Headphone Safety

Wearing headphones shouldn't mean tuning out the world around you.

HearGuard runs quietly in the background while you listen to music, podcasts, or calls — and alerts you the moment it detects an important sound nearby. Sirens, car horns, alarms, train horns, glass breaking: the sounds that matter get through.

Perfect for pedestrians, cyclists, joggers, and commuters who wear headphones outdoors.

HOW IT WORKS

HearGuard uses your phone's microphone to sample ambient audio. A real-time sound classification model runs entirely on your device, analyzing audio in milliseconds. When a sound you care about is detected, you get an alert — a notification, a vibration, or both.

No audio is ever recorded, stored, or sent anywhere.

WHAT IT DETECTS

18 categories of environmental sounds:

Core alerts (on by default):
🚨 Siren — emergency vehicles, police, ambulance, fire truck
📯 Car Horn
🔔 Alarm — fire, burglar, smoke detector
🔫 Gunshot
💥 Glass Break
🚂 Train Horn
🐕 Dog Bark

Additional sounds you can enable:
😱 Scream · 👶 Baby Cry · 🔔 Doorbell · ⛈ Thunder · 🏍 Motorcycle · 🚁 Helicopter · ⛓ Chainsaw · 🔨 Jackhammer · 💥 Crash · 🐦 Bird · 🐱 Cat
