Herbal World: Medicinal Plants

Herbal World - Restoring Humanity Through Indigenous Herbs.

A guide to more than 300 medicinal plants: Kenyan herbs recorded from practising herbalists, and well-known herbs from around the world. Every plant shows its local names, what it is traditionally used for, how herbalists prepare it, and whether it is poisonous. Everything works without internet.

KENYAN HERBS WITH THEIR LOCAL NAMES
Plants used by herbalists in Nyeri, Embu, Mbeere and Maasai communities, with names in Kikuyu, Kiembu, Kimbeere and Maa next to the scientific name, so you know exactly which plant is meant.

WORLD HERBS
Ginger, garlic, chamomile, peppermint, turmeric and over a hundred more, from the European Medicines Agency's herbal monographs. Herbs whose use is backed by clinical studies are clearly marked.

SEARCH BY CONDITION
Find which plants are used for stomach problems, colds and coughs, joint pain, wounds, skin problems, high blood pressure and many more. Search by English, local or scientific name.

SAFETY FIRST
- Poisonous plants are clearly marked, and no preparation details are shown for them.
- Serious conditions such as malaria, diabetes and cancer tell you to get tested and treated at a health facility.
- No doses are given: wrong amounts of some plants are dangerous.
- Safety information for every plant is always free.

FROM PUBLISHED SOURCES
Kenyan uses come from published field studies with practising herbalists. World herbs come from the European Medicines Agency. Every use shows where it comes from, and whether laboratory or clinical studies exist.
