Hidewell is an encrypted photo vault for personal photos, videos, and documents. Keep them separate from your everyday gallery, organized and protected by your own pattern.

A private gallery of your own
Organize files with albums and tags, view photos, and watch videos inside your vault. When importing files, you choose whether to remove the originals. Copies left outside Hidewell remain outside its protection.

Capture straight into your vault
Take photos and record videos with the built-in camera. Your captures go directly into Hidewell without first appearing in your phone's gallery.

Separate vaults, separate patterns
With Hidewell Pro, keep different parts of your life in separate vaults. Each pattern opens its own vault directly. The unlock screen never displays a list of your vaults.

Keep your devices in sync with LiveSync
Keep a vault up to date across your Android devices using your own Google Drive account. Connect another device with the same account and your 12 recovery words. File names and contents stay encrypted. LiveSync runs while the vault is open and requires Hidewell Pro on each device.

Your backup. Your recovery words.
Optional encrypted backup to Google Drive helps you recover your files if you lose your phone or forget a pattern. Backup and restore are free and work independently of LiveSync. Restore a backed-up vault with your 12 recovery words and choose a new pattern.

Keep your recovery words safe: anyone with them and access to your backup can restore it. Backup and LiveSync require an internet connection and use your Google Drive storage. Cloud storage is not included.

A decoy vault for when you need it
With Hidewell Pro, create a decoy vault and fill it with files you choose. Entering its pattern on the lock screen opens the decoy and deletes every other vault on that phone. Existing cloud backups remain recoverable with your recovery words.

Privacy built in
Your files and thumbnails are protected with AES-256 encryption. Hidewell locks when you leave the app and hides your content in the recent-apps preview. Use your local vault offline, without a Hidewell account.

The encryption core is open source. Its code and published security review are available on GitHub at hidewell-oss/hidewell-core.
