Horse Man

Horse Man is a difficult, turn-based tactical party RPG where every encounter demands careful planning.

Your strongest team isn't always the best solution. Understand matchups and counters, study your enemies, exploit their weaknesses, and adapt your team composition and playstyle to prevail.

Battle with parties of up to four characters. Eight distinct Factions (classes) each offer their own mechanics, strengths, weaknesses and counters, creating a huge variety of possible interactions between characters, abilities, and enemies - especially at higher levels.

Strategy triumphs over raw power. Enemy information is fully transparent. Difficult encounters may require different party compositions, builds, positioning or approaches rather than simply higher levels or power.

After the tutorial, you will have eight starting companions - one from each Faction. Every Faction counters two others and is countered by two, although these advantages are not absolute. Smart builds and careful play can overcome significant differences in power.

Your own custom character can belong to multiple factions, eventually up to three, opening up powerful combinations and highly specialised builds. Certain enemies have the same privilege, especially at higher levels.

Quests are anthologies - repeatable short stories consisting of several encounters, with optional choices you can make that will result in unique battles and outcomes.

More than 200 entities can be encountered throughout the game. High level entities remain partially concealed in the Codex until you discover them, while quests reveal short, important pieces of lore as you progress through their battles.

PvP is a competitive ladder. Build a four character defensive team and compete on an Elo-based ranking system. Other players can challenge your team while it is controlled by the game's optimised AI, allowing your ranking to change even while you are away.

Free to play, with no energy system. Battles and retries only consume your time. Optional purchases are strictly limited to convenience items that reduce repetition on content you have already completed, along with character-reset options.

Horse Man is designed for players who enjoy difficult encounters, experimentation, theorycrafting, learning complex systems, exploration, discovering fragments of lore, environmental storytelling, and worldbuilding.

AI asset notice: Horse Man is an independently developed project and currently uses AI-generated artwork for a number of visual assets. These assets may be refined or replaced as development continues.
