Hydrousa Game

The HYDROUSA GAME is stylized in a world where the players have to manage a water crisis of a virtual city and make the citizens happy! A game that consists of 6 different areas (one for each HYDROUSA site) with a variety of needs and specifications. Energy, food, human power and water are the essential resources for the well being of our communities. The game is designed and developed by the consortium partner AGENSO, with the support of NTUA.

Could you manage your resources the right way?
Each player enters the game with the role of the person in charge of all 6 demo sites:
● Hydro 1: Wastewater Τreatment system
● Hydro 2: Agroforestry system
● Hydro 3: Subsurface Rainwater harvesting
● Hydro 4: Residential Rainwater harvesting
● Hydro 5: Desalination system – Greenhouse
● Hydro 6: Ecotourist water-loops

The game is designed in a way where all demo sites are present in a central map, illustrated with a center circle depicting the specialty of each. Around each circle there are smaller ones that represent the number of resources, human power or energy that will be needed in order for them to operate smoothly. At the bottom of the screen, the player can see 7 icons, each one essential for the demo sites in the form of an archive. On the top of the screen, the Happiness Meter is what showcases the player's performance. Next to it, there is an icon that shows the month they will have to go through and what kind of challenges they will have to face! For example, floods in March are delaying the operation of demo sites, or lack of rain during summer are causing water shortage.What would you do?

The game is played in real-time, the players start by receiving some of the needed resources that can help them start making the citizens happy. The goal of the game is to achieve a high score on the Happiness Meter. The happiness element is won when all the resources for the central demo site are collected. But if the player doesn't gather a happiness icon after 3 months, their performance falls again. If a demo site is operating, then you get rewards to continue playing. We invite you to play and explore, because YOU make the choices, YOU can make the change!

The simulation is designed to showcase the operation of HYDROUSA demo sites and their interconnectivity for resource management in a decentralized manner. Players get to understand the emerging challenge of water-stress and resource management, while becoming the decision makers on how we can act now, contributing to a more circular and sustainable future.
