iA Writer: Focused Writing

★★★★★ I actually use this for writing first drafts of stories, because I like the markdown, minimalist ui, and cross-platform apps without HAVING to be sync. Most importantly it doesn't lag while writing at 25k+ words in a file on my phone (evernote, Google Docs, one note all fail here, not to mention sync issues). Only wish that it had a read only/preview that looks exactly like the editor OR make preview match the editors text size. Love the mono font, don't love the preview font size.

★★★★★ Best minimalist writing app with dark mode for Android. You can set it up to sync with your Google Drive or Dropbox folder so all your texts are same across your devices. For this, on your desktop app, go to View - Show Organizer and add your desired Drive folder as a Location. Inside this folder you may save your files. This was the most difficult thing to wrap my head around. Anyway, 5 stars

★★☆☆☆ Bugs were never fixed & found free apps with greater functionality. _Previous Review_ Great app, also paid for the worthy of the price extra features. The 5th star is not there, just yet, due to the lack of find & replace functionality. Also, when a file is renamed, the file extension ".md" is appended automatically, each and every time, resulting in an endless: "filename.md.md" after each and every edit. I have to manually remove the file extension with the dot, in order to avoid that issue.

★★☆☆☆ Writing with the app is good, and it quickly syncs with my cloud service. However, since the most recent update, I haven't been able to export my notes into text files. EDIT: I already contacted support, and the issue still hasn't been solved.

★★☆☆☆ The older version has been quietly replaced with a subscription only version. I've owned the app for years. Now I have two distinct copies on my phone. This one demands that I pay $30 for something I already own.
