Excellent free app for notetaking for school or work, and writing fiction. It saves your typing automatically: love this feature! iA Writer's typing font looks like a typewriter font. Which can be hard to read. However, it does have the nice option to read words against a black background to be gentle on your eyes. Unfortunately, you can't use it for emailing assignments to teachers though.

It would be perfect app for my use case - having an markdown notebook stored in cloud and accessing it from mobile or desktop with different programs. The only downside is that it does not support Central European character set, so I cannot efficiently write in Czech with it. Otherwise it is great...

So far and by far the best Markdown editor for I've found. Free or not. IAwriter, although it sometimes feels a bit incomplete if we were to nitpick, is an amazing tool. Clean and even pretty UI, a competent markdown that doesn't try to be fancy or show off with dressings and cupcake idiotics, is what a serious editor should be and IA is. This along with the fact that it's free deserves them 5 stars. I honestly don't know why this app isn't ratted better. I can't stress this enough: COMPETENT!

If I try to open a text file in the app, it wants to just save the text while I am trying to open and does not open it. Strange.

Equations, tables etc do not render correctly. Need a single icon to toggle between edit and preview. Can't open file from local storage from within app. Cloud connection to Google drive and Dropbox only.

There's very little UI to this app, which is both nice and frustrating. Its not overly clear how things work and if you accidentally click the wrong button it wipes your entire document without any warning or way to recover it. There should be a popup to make sure you want to lose your work before its lost forever or autosaving like good writing programs have. Misclicks happen so easily, especially on smaller screens.
