ID Number Mask Privacy

Not affiliated with UIDAI or any government body. An independent utility. A masked Aadhaar shows only the last 4 digits of the number, the format UIDAI uses for its own masked Aadhaar. This app makes that kind of copy from a PDF or photo you already have.

Someone asks for a copy of your Aadhaar. Before you send it, make it a copy that is safe to hand over: the app takes you through five steps and keeps no copy of it afterwards.

THE SHARE-SAFE KIT
1. Mask. Pick a PDF or a photo. The app looks for every 12-digit Aadhaar number and 16-digit VID on every page and covers all but the last 4 digits of each one it finds.
2. Cover the QR code. A QR code that holds the full number, as older Aadhaar QR codes can, is always covered. Other QR codes follow the Cover QR code switch.
3. Stamp the purpose. Add a faint line such as “For KYC only” and today's date across every page, so the copy is harder to reuse for anything else.
4. Check the copy. Before you share, the app reads the finished copy again with fresh text and QR recognition, and tells you if a full number, or a QR code you chose to cover, can still be read.
5. Share, keep nothing. Save it with Android's file picker, share it, or send it on WhatsApp in one tap. The app's own copy is deleted as soon as you leave the result screen; a copy you saved stays where you saved it.

WHAT IT MASKS
• Every occurrence: an e-Aadhaar letter prints your number more than once, and each one found is covered.
• A 16-digit VID is never treated as a 12-digit Aadhaar number, so only its last 4 digits stay readable.
• Password-protected e-Aadhaar PDFs: type the password once to open the file. It is not stored.
• PDFs up to 30 pages, masked page by page into one PDF.
• Photos from your gallery, or a new photo from your phone's camera app. JPG, PNG and WebP.
• Missed something? Tap Edit masks and drag a box over it, then move or resize any box, with undo and redo. Or tap Box for photo, Box for date of birth or Box for address and drag the box onto that detail.
• Cover style: paper colour with XXXX, or solid black.

YOUR DOCUMENT STAYS ON THIS PHONE
• The document is read and masked on this phone. The text recogniser ships inside the app, and the document is never uploaded.
• The masked copy is a plain picture: there is no text under the mask to copy out, and no photo location or camera details are included.
• The file you picked is never changed.
• Keep nothing: the app's own copy is deleted as soon as you leave the result screen, and its working files are cleared when you leave the document and again the next time the app starts. A copy you saved stays where you saved it.
• No camera or storage permission: photos and files come through Android's own pickers, and a photo you take is handed over by your camera app. The app never asks you to allow a permission.
• Ads: the app shows one ad, on the Home screen, from Google AdMob, and never on the screens that show your document. Loading an ad uses the internet, and Google's ads SDK collects device identifiers such as the advertising ID. Where the law requires it, you are asked for consent first.
• Google ML Kit, which reads the text, sends usage statistics to Google; your document is not part of them. Details are in the privacy policy.
