Description
IH-Tsunamis System (IH-Tsusy) is an online tool that notifies the user of actual worldwide earthquakes and calculates the propagation of the tsunamis in case they occur. The system applies the earthquakes data from international agencies (i.e. USGS) to run in real-time the numerical simulation of the tsunami, using a validated model to achieve it. If the seism ‘s magnitude is high enough to generate tsunami the tool provides the tsunami travel time and amplitude, showing the results in a viewer including maps and animations of the calculated variables

The sea surface height graph needs work, the key shows a 0 to 1 mile difference with color but 80% is a red hue as if a 7/8 mile high wave would be the around the same color as a 3/4 mile high wave. Maybe tweak the gradient or move the key onto the map, so the colors are more easily comparable.

Seems like a great app. The max wave amplitude/height bar is not clear in the data it is communicating (is it in meters? What does the 0-2 scale represent?). Would be great if this app could provide alerts as to ongoing tsunamis.

The alerts are not being sent out in a timely manner. We don't receive them until two days after the tsunami or not at all... They need to have this linked to a central computer so the messages & information will go up immediately when it happens. The whole idea behind this is to save lives & that is why it is important to get the message out fast.

Simulation way too slow. If you're close to an event waiting hours for a simulation to run is hopeless. If can't speed up simulation then it needs an interim warning.
