Inkstep: Letter Ladder Puzzle

Inkstep is a calm letter puzzle set in an old print shop. A word is hidden behind wooden type blocks. Set a word, press PRINT, and the blocks are inked:

• green – right letter, right place
• orange – in the word, but somewhere else
• grey – not in the word: that key drops off the keyboard

You have six rows. Under every wrong row a small recap line repeats what you already know, so you never lose track.

CLIMB THE LADDER
The ladder has seven rungs: words with 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 letters. Every rung has 40 numbered levels, and later levels use rarer words. Solve 10 levels on a rung to climb to the next one – 280 levels in all.

STARS, TOKENS AND HINTS
Solve a word in three rows or fewer for three stars. Brass tokens are earned in play and buy small hints: reveal one letter, or clear three letters that are not in the word. Tokens cannot be bought.

WORD OF THE DAY
A new word every day, the same for everybody, with a streak to keep.

SIX WORD LANGUAGES
Play with English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian or Turkish words, each with its own keyboard (ä ö ü, ñ, ç, ğ ı ş …). Progress is kept for each language.

FAIR AND QUIET
• The 4-letter rung and the word of the day are open to everyone
• One single one-time purchase opens the rungs with 5 to 10 letters
