jacity Echo

On the Dark Crescent night the cave ahead was pitch black. I tapped PING, a green ring swept outward, and for a moment the rock glowed just long enough to reveal a narrow gap rising to the right. I climbed, dived, slipped through and pinged again before the walls faded back into nothing.

Echo Bat is a one-touch cave flyer about seeing with sound. Hold anywhere and the little bat climbs; release and it dives, always in a crisp 45-degree zig or zag. The caves are dark, and the round PING button sends out a ring of sound that lights the walls and hazards as it passes, then lets them fade. Pings draw on three charges of breath that each refill in under a second, so rhythm matters as much as reflexes. Twelve nights follow the moon from the Harvest Moon down to the New Moon, and each one is darker than the last. Three moths flutter through every cave, and catching all three draws that species into the Moth Journal, from the Luna Moth to the Ghost Moth. Clear a night within its quiet ping par for the third star. Moonlight, earned only by flying, welcomes new bats to the roost, from the Pipistrelle to the Spectral, each with its own sonar colour, and the Flight Log keeps your distance, pings and minutes in the air. Everything runs offline, with no account, no ads and no purchases, on phones and tablets. Then there is the Long Night: an endless, moonless cave that narrows the further you go, where the only light is the echo you send out and the only question is how far you can hear.
