Comments on Journal for Android

★★★★★ Campfire Ghosts · Jun 6, 2026

Feature Request: Please add native Health Connect integration to the Journal app. It would be amazing if the time spent writing or reflecting in Journal could automatically sync to Google Health as a 'Mindfulness Session.' Journaling is a massive part of mental well-being, and having that reflective time count toward our daily mindfulness and health goals would tie the whole Google wellness ecosystem together perfectly.

★★★★☆ Liz Johnston · Aug 2, 2026

I really like this app, it's been helping me organize my thoughts. However, I wish there were formatting options, even simple markdown. I'd love inline photos, but it works as is. Ideally I hope we can make custom categories or tags. It does what I need, just would love a little more options.

★★★★☆ Ameen Walker · Jun 11, 2026

I haven't used this much. Eventually, sure, but it needs to be able to store voice recordings, also maybe not maybe the option for multiple journals or a way to filter, colors and tags

★☆☆☆☆ Matthew J Burgess · Jul 11, 2026

There is no way to export the Journal to Google Docs. The contents of the journal can only be accessed through the Journal app, which seems only to be available on Google Pixel phones. It seems a waste of time to write a journal that is locked in an app and would not be accessible to me if I moved to a different make of phone. Rubbish and pointless!

★☆☆☆☆ Nate Hudson · Sep 24, 2026

I love the premise of this app: quick journal entries with AI reflections and organization. But in reality, the AI just constantly tells you to call suicide help lines. "I'm frustrated because X." Call the suicide help line. "My glasses need adjusting because they cause a sharp pain in my ear." Call the suicide line. "I'm grateful for the color dark blue and life itself." Believe it not, call the suicide help line. And there's no option to give feedback or report this in app.

★☆☆☆☆ Keith Boeglin · Aug 10, 2026

When I open the app, it immediately takes me to a new entry entirely. So it's not really a journal, when you write personal things, typically you write in daily entry, not 20 short entries in a single day. I want to use the application, but that is literally the only reason I won't. I could see if this was a notepad, you get a new entry every time you open the app, notes aren't personal and are normally lists or small notes for a reminder. Very disappointed in this app.
