Description
Kanji Senpai will help you learn Japanese vocabulary and kanji. By using a spaced repetition system (SRS) you can memorize the different aspects of each vocabulary: meaning, pronunciation, reading, listening, writing, etc.
Included it's the N5 level of the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) vocabulary list and you can download (for free!) all the levels (though N1).
Ah! This app assumes you've already mastered hiragana and katakana.
FEATURES • Study several vocabulary aspects: reading, listening, writing, meaning and handwrite • Answers are not so easy so you will really learn that the kanji for "person" is 人 (hito), no 八 (for example) * In the kanji write aspect, strokes are checked for rightness (there's even a strict mode!) • Lists can be downloaded and upgraded • You can a study a session without audio questions (in case you're in a public place with no headphones) • There are vocabulary translations for English and Spanish • You can create custom lists • Example sentences (currently for the N5 and N4 levels)
If you are serious about learning Japanese, you can download premium audio packs for the study lists (don't worry, it's cheap!). These audios are professionally audio recorded from a Japanese native teacher that will help you master the vocabulary.
The Audio pack for a list (inapp purchase) will unlock: • Audio for words • Audio aspect (you'll be asked for listening questions) • Kanji handwritten aspect (you'll have to write kanji and kana) • Ads will be disabled • Unlimited custom lists
Additionally you can purchase the Sentences pack for: • Example sentences for vocabulary • Questions with context • Listen to sentences with Text to speech

Love it! As someone who struggles with consistency, I found it quite helpful. I just need to open it and spend 10-15 minutes, and it will take care of the new words I need to learn and revisiting the ones I've learned, every now and then

It's a must-have if you're learning Japanese, worth paying a few bucks to have good audio and kanji writing practice. Plus the difficulty of the writing practice changes as you go. So if it had 先生 for the first time it would show the english and the kanji as an outline, and you trace it. Then after a few times of having that word come it will draw it but won't stay up to trace, so you have to write it. Then after a few more it will just tell you the english word teacher, and you write the kanji

I've used this app before and was very happy with it, but there seems to be a bug now where I'm unable to purchase any new audio, or play the audio of sentences I already purchased. I would love to buy the audios for higher levels if the app would let me :(

Sadly impossible to add any new words to my lists now. I've tried emailing support multiple times since 1 month, but no reply at all. This error appears whenever I try to add a new word: "There was some problem contacting the server. Make sure your network is working!". Of course Wi-Fi and mobile internet work for all other apps. I bought all audio packs for this app, so I'm really disappointed in the lack of support. It's become unusable for my study.

It jumps between exercises before you hit next, it's hard to follow as the audio isn't synced with the exercises and after 10 words or so you'll start getting non-stop ads for in-app purchases which you can't learn without - so it's not really a free app. Cute logo, but really nothing else.
