By MAC Technologies, from Google Play“KITT 3000 scanner watch face with animated red light, time, steps and battery.”
Description by MAC Technologies Written by the developer, not by AppBrain. Click to read.
A watch face built around the one thing everybody remembers from Knight Rider: the red scanner sweeping across a black screen. Three columns of red light stand in the middle of the dial and rise and fall together, four times a second, with thin streaks of light running through and beside them - the display of the Knight Industries Three Thousand, cut down to a watch.
THE SCANNER
Three columns of red light, and they do not stand still. They breathe - the two outer columns always level with each other, the middle one always a few bars past them - each column brightest at its centre and fading at its ends, with a red rule across the whole dial and the streaks either side reaching as far as the columns do. It is not a reading. It is the car's display, and what that display does is move. Raise your wrist and the scanner is running.
THE READINGS
The time on the left, big and unmistakable, in the squared-off typeface of a car dashboard. Under it, your battery as a battery: ten cells, lit from the left, and the last cell turns red when it is the last one.
On the right, the weekday and the date, then the day's steps with a footprint after them, and your heart rate with a heart. Everything set in a warm pink that reads at a glance against the black.
THE RING
Your step goal, drawn from twelve o'clock clockwise around the edge of the dial. It closes into a full circle when you get there.
WHAT IT SHOWS
- Hours and minutes, following your watch's 12- or 24-hour setting
- Weekday, month and day
- Steps taken today
- Heart rate
- Step goal, as a ring around the dial
- Battery, as a ten-cell gauge - red on the last cell
- The scanner, running while you look at the watch
ALWAYS-ON
With always-on enabled the dial goes dark, leaving the hour and minute alone in a dim pink that shifts a few pixels each minute so no pixel carries a stroke for long. Raise your wrist and the scanner lights up again. The dial is black, which is the colour an AMOLED screen spends nothing on.
FOR FANS OF THE SERIES
If you grew up with the 80s show - Michael Knight, the talking black Trans Am, that red light sweeping back and forth - this is the modern KITT of the 2008 series on your wrist. Same scanner, same red, same black.
YOUR DATA STAYS ON YOUR WATCH
Steps and heart rate are read on the watch and shown on the watch. The face asks for heart-rate access so it can show your pulse; nothing is collected, stored or sent anywhere.
No ads. No subscription. No account. Nothing to set up - install it, choose it, and the scanner is on.
