This app is amazing! Very intuitive and you don't get lost scrolling through millions of effects/presets like a regular DAW. Personally I feel like the samurai upgrade is a must since you can then edit the piano roll and not have to play the samples in. Editing can get finicky on smaller screens, but this would be amazing on a tablet. Best money I spent on an app ever! Edit on Dec 2025- added MIDI support and new synth are game changers. This app keeps on relieving my GAS!

HANDS DOWN THE BEST, MOST POWERFUL MUSIC CREATION APP ON ANDROID. (ANY AND ALL ADD ONS ARE WORTH EVERY PENNY!) with mixer its like a full DAW I would go head-to-head with the teenage Engineering sampler and Koala. Literally the best value in an app I think I have ever purchased in the Play Store Ever. Only downside... I have to buy it again for my ipad 🤟🏽

First you pay £4.79, then £3.99 to add features you would usually get in a Sampler as standard. Then you need to pay another £4.79 for yet another in-app-purchase called Mixer. So £4.79 (Base app) + £3.99 (Samurai in-app-purchase) + £4.79 (Mixer in-app-purchase) Total = £13.57 Meanwhile FL STUDIO for android is only £13.49 also Cu base regularly reduces to this price too. Note: the IOS Apple version of this app is far superior to the Android version, it has more features.

Worked extremely well for a day, then the crackling started. The app's CPU usage readout fluctuates wildly and often well above 100%, even with no FX and every other non-system app closed. Audio is unusable. I was really looking forward to creating with Koala and the SP404mkII, but the constant crackling is too prevalent to get any usable audio for longer than a couple seconds at a time.

EDIT - There is no background audio option for galaxy S22, this feature is available on other phones and is actually listed in the manual on the koala sampler website. If you are wanting to use the app as a sample module, you cannot put your phone back in your pocket. Do not buy the app if you are wanting to use it for this purpose like I did. ORIGINAL POST - background audio for Samsung Galaxy S22. Renders app unusable for live use as a sample player.
