Kyen - The Skeleton Amulet is a short adventure showcasing the engine of Bylina - Lure of the Sorceress. It is an old-school fantasy hack ‘n’ slash role-playing game, with turn-based tactical combat, glorious 16-colour graphics, and a simple one-hand interface.

I am just so happy that there are other games like Gurk! With my busy lifestyle, simple games like this are the only way I can enjoy RPGs, because I can play them for 5 minutes at a time and still enjoy it and have a sense of progression. The first dungeon is too hard to be completed in a single expedition, but no complaints there. I like grinding 😄. I like the style of the graphics, but I wish they were more easily readable. I'll for sure buy the second game once I finish this one.

I was pleasantly surprised by the level of detail and fun to be had in this RPG. The sprite work is really nice, and the atmosphere gives me good vibes of older RPGs without the cumbersome mechanics. I am looking forward to playing Byline, the creator's other game, next. I also wish I could find a way to play the Gurk games these are inspired by because of how much I enjoyed this short RPG.
