LANmic

★★★★★ LANmic has a lot of good features. Most importantly, the audio is clear with reasonably low background noise. The app works equally well with the internal mic or an external one. It connects automatically to my router, discovers its local IP address, and displays it. Streaming to VLC, WinAmp, and a second smartphone are all trouble-free. The choice of WAV or MP3 is good, and the choice of sampling frequencies is a nice plus. On the negative side, the bar-graph level meter is much too fast and much too sensitive. As a result it is entirely useless. The MP3 bitrate appears to be VBR, according to the app's constantly changing display. That can pose a problem if I want to record the stream coming in to WinAmp. (It will also be important if I port forward my router and listen at a different location, since I'm stuck with a slow DSL connection.) I strongly wish the MP3 bitrate was fixed and user selectable (as the sampling rate is). I would gladly pay a reasonable price for this app, especially if the above issues were fixed. I don't mind the ads in the bar at the bottom of the screen. BUT the full-screen video ad for TikTok (or ANY full-screen video ad, for that matter) is entirely unacceptable. All in all, I'm glad I found LANmic. This type of app is rather unusual and hard to find. Please fix the above minor issues, and give me a paid version to eliminate the ads, and I'll be your supporter forever!

★★☆☆☆ Black screen Tried on 3 devices and got a blank black screen on startup. Useless.

★★☆☆☆ Another one that plays an ad almost after every action. Still does not connect to Chromecast as it claims. Basically not as advertised stay away.
