An alternative reading option We have heard from readers many times that they do not like the banner ads and the use of Google surveys on our mobile websites. Our new app provides an alternative for such readers. The new app offers Lawrence Journal-World content without the distraction of Google surveys or banner ads.

Pointless. Why would I pay for this app monthly when I can just use the browser on my phone? I had hoped that this would be more convenient, but I guess not. It would've made much more sense to make full stories available to everyone in the app, and make money on ad revenues.

It's not really free. App is touted as being free and a way to avoid the surveys and ads from the mobile site. Technically, it doesn't cost anything to download, but after that you only get the first few lines before the pay wall. Also, the pay wall is almost as much as local delivery of the print version. Totally not worth it. It should be free or at least drastically reduced for current subscribers. I'll stick with the surveys for now.
