The Lazarillo App is an accessible GPS designed for individuals who are blind or have low vision. It allows you to explore the world around you and create routes with audio guidance.
With a wide range of customizability options and a diverse array of mobility tools developed using active feedback from people who are blind, Lazarillo is the solution for anyone looking to navigate accessibly.
As you move, Lazarillo will inform you about nearby places, such as the street you’re walking on, nearby intersections, businesses, transit stops, and more. You can toggle announcements of specific locations on and off in the exploration menu.
Need to route to a specific location? No problem. With Lazarillo, you can browse through nearby locations or search for a specific place and receive turn-by-turn guidance to your destination. You can even save your favorite locations for easy access at any time.
If buildings or other indoor locations have been mapped by Lazarillo, you’ll be able to explore their interiors with audio guidance as well. For more information on getting your business mapped by Lazarillo, visit lazarillo.app/business.
With a host of customizable settings, Lazarillo allows you to build the perfect navigation assistant for your needs. Select a custom voice engine, choose your ideal units of measurement and direction, customize the layout of the exploration screen, and set your language of choice to get audible guidance on your terms.
Permission Usage: 1. Location Access: • Outdoor Navigation: Utilizes GPS to provide accurate route guidance and contextual notifications based on your current position. • Indoor Navigation: Employs Bluetooth to scan for beacons, offering precise instructions in environments where GPS is unreliable. 2. Foreground Services: Runs foreground services to deliver uninterrupted audio guidance and notifications, ensuring navigation features remain active and responsive, even when the app is running in the background or the device screen is off. 3. Automatic Activation of Exploration Feature: Upon launching the app, the exploration feature activates automatically, providing users with instant orientation and contextual information about their surroundings, enhancing mobility and safety.
Note: Continued use of GPS running in the background can decrease battery life.
The Lazarillo app and all its functionalities are free. All you need is a mobile data or Wi-Fi connection.

Very useful app. But some nearby places and bus stops are outdated. Would love to add voice guided option for wrong directions and voiced distance increase when walking the opposite of intended direction.

Pretty good and very helpful. Moved to Australia which Google Maps doesn't have detailed voice guidance in the region and Amarillo is the best alternative l. Would love to have voice guidance for walking after getting off a bus or train stop rather than changing destination to walking mode separately

This app is very difficulty use if I want to go any location by using this app it's not saying accurate location what I want and also if I search any location by using this app in sometimes it's saying no connection available please try again later like that it saying I have very good Wi-Fi connection, and I have 5G mobile also, but it's saying like this please fix this issue soon is possible otherwise we can't trust this app is safe to use

I have to remove this app because after only a few minutes I see that it's showing directors to businesses that have shut down years ago. Like Beneficial Bank in this neighborhood they closed down 10 years ago Outdated this app is and will get a blind person totally lost. Grounds for a huge lawsuit if someone gets hurt or worse for relying on this app. This app should either be fixed IMMEDIATELY or taken down. Seriously.

This app is terrible. It couldn't even ascertain where I was. The voice guiding you, it was telling me I was 2 doors away. It sounds retarted and instead of saying Road it said r d. It gave the name of a local pub, The Centenary as The Centurion! It showed businesses that no longer exist. When telling you where bus stops are it was saying 'in front of you'. There is a row of houses in front of me! Whoever devised this apo has absolutely no understanding of what it is like to be sight impaired.

Can't get it to run. It says sign in to start exploring, and then it asks for an email address all of this requiring Vision By the way! So I put in the email address and push the next button and nothing happens it refuses to do anything after I put in the email address that's ridiculous it's a totally legitimate email address too, so I don't get why and why the heck doesn't it just ask for a regular Google account login
