As a beginner, I am enjoying learning the history of paintings through the Artly app.

I have been into (learning) art ever since I was a child, this app has helped me a lot to do so. The app is great especially with premium, and it's already helped me learn a lot in with little of 4 days. This is overall a 9/10 app; I would recommend.

There aren't really lessons. Instead, they just try to have you memorize artist's paintings.

Supposedly you can use it in ad supported mode or upgrade to the premium. But in reality you have to enter your payment info before you can even test it. And after a few days it automatically upgrades you to premium paid mode. What a shame because I will not install any app that demands payment info before I have tested it, especially when it lies about being ad-supported. Oh it does have ads, it just demands payment in addition to the ads.

For a paid app I was expecting something more fun and interesting. It just shows you the pictures of the art works in a row with an explanation of the painter, the name of the art work and the year it belongs and afterward with multiple choices test asks you either the painter or the name of the art work. Kind of too basic.

They're not trying to help you learn anything, they're trying to extract as much money as possible from you without teaching you anything. A lot of ads and hostile UX, clearly the app doesn't care about users, and it shows in the low quality of the "learning" experience.
