Description

Look to Speak is an Android app from Google which enables you to use your eyes to select a menu of phrases and pictures and have them spoken aloud. The app uses the front-facing camera to detect eye gaze gestures, processing the feed in real time using machine learning. When a significant gesture is detected, the app will trigger your intended action. All data is private and never leaves the device.

Recent changes:
The new text-free mode allows you to select a choice of emojis, symbols and photos to be spoken aloud - with no reading required. The update also includes the ability to store multiple phrasebooks and added support for Swahili.

This is a great start, and awesome to see Google trying to help people with motor deficits! Could do with the ability to spell out words, form new sentences from words, and add them to the phrase book from the eye tracking UI. That would greatly improve its usefulness.

I'm excited to try this with my grandma who is in rehab and unable to communicate by conventional means. I created a phrasebook with essential phrases. I wish there was room for more, the 20 phrase limit seems arbitrary. I hope this app scales well, because I'll need to run this on a large tablet for it to be legible to her. My phrasebook: Yes. No. I understand. I do not understand. I need to think. I consent. I do not consent. Repeat that? More options?

This app could be extremely helpful for people, but it doesn't really work as it should, instead of removing the phrases in order to make sure the person does say what they want to say, it does it randomly, making it difficult or impossible to actually say what you want to say. The eyes muscles will get tired in a short time, the app is not able apparently to change languages even though you have another one selected on the text to speech options, and can be very unresponsive at times.

It want to detect my eyes. I only get a bunch of lines and blurry green screen.

The idea is great, but it's not working in Redmi Note 11. The front camera is not detecting anything because it shows all green
