09/03/26 Update: Today's changes to the portfolio screen are bad. The pie size and account balance has shrunk, just to blow up and center a couple of drop down menus (time frame and return type). This leaves less space to display your tickers and generally feels weird proportionally and like an inefficient use of screen real estate. Great investing platform, the one-year margin promotion rate is great. Dashboards have gotten better slowly over time generally except for this last update.

Sometimes confusing, but fundamentally a good system for long term, passive, high-commitment investors who will ignore daily noise. Worst possible platform for "traders" who rely on intraday activity, which they're pretty upfront about. The pie system makes automated investing easy and dividends are handled well. Only being able to borrow 25% margin via cash is disappointing - if a security is marginable at a certain percentage, treating buying power and borrowing power differently seems wrong

I've been with M1 since 2022. I love the platform. The autorebalancing feature and the dynamic rebalancing is so underrated. Allowing you to stay on target allocation. This platform is not for day traders. It's designed around long-term investing. Keeping an asset allocation based on your risk tolerance is very important. M1 Finance allows you to stay within your allocation thus maintaining your intended risk levels. I've recommended over 10 users to this platform. Thank you and never change!

They make it hard to transfer out of your account. Fee's for everything that other brokers do for free.

Absolute trash company. Charges my child's custodial account $3 a month, so basically they are just draining her account month by month because her small sum of money can't keep up. Plain and simple crooks. Update (after their unconcerned Google response): Their team didn't help and in fact charged my kids $100 each to transfer out of M1, essentially stealing well over their yearly gains, which I now have to cover. Stay far away, your best interest is not their concern.

Like others, I was using this as a set and forget kind of deal, and it was decent for a time until I recently logged in and found they started charging a service fee with no warning or notice or anything. I never received any communication saying they were implementing this. Deleting my account isn't easy either, I've started the process but as far as it seems I won't be able to actually delete anything? I can deactivate the account, but it's still there with my information?
