The app is a digital director's viewfinder -- it helps you see the exact field of view for your future shot. Select the camera from the menu and rotate the wheel to select the focal length of the lens.
Supported cameras (in both photo 3:2 and HD 16:9 modes): - Nikon D4s, D5 - Nikon D750, D810, etc (marked as DXX0 in the app) - Nikon D500 - Nikon D5600, D3400, D7500, etc (marked as DXX00 in the app)
Specifically, Calibration is recommended for a precise operation of the app. You can start Calibration process from the menu, the instructions are on the web site.

This app is perfect! I've just started using my Nikon D3300 for video, and this app is great for being able to frame up shots that I'm interested in, without having to carry the camera around everywhere and squint at its small rear screen. Being able to set lens focal length and other settings, as well as different picture ratios allows me to get an idea of how my shots will look, before I even pickup the camera.

It's a frame preview app. And the frame does not match the frame on my Nikon when side by side. I was expecting a snarky unprofessional reply by the developer, but left a review anyway. I had initially said it's a great concept. But taking that back and im lowering the ratting due to all the unprofessional defensive replays on these reviews. Have fun with your thousands of pros you claim think this is great... Reporting the app and snarky developer that can't take criticism and grow

No matter what camera I use from the drop-down menu the screen, as well as any pics I take are black.
