Wasted my two strings by using this stupid tuner

I've been playing the violin for almost two years off and on. The mandolin is tuned exactly the same I Just downloaded this to make sure I was hearing the right notes. I can definitely say this is not accurate, but it actually seems to be consistent. Ps if you get at least one string right then place your finger on the seventh fret. That will give you the note of the next string.
