This free public service app without advertisements or user tracking quickly calculates how much water you are using from your taps, hoses and other water outlets. Provides the essential information you need to know for controlling your water usage and answers the following question: HOW MUCH WATER AM I ACTUALLY USING WHEN I OPEN A TAP OR WATER OUTLET?

* Measures the flow of water from taps or any water outlet in either litres per minute (l/min) or gallons per minute (gpm).

* Calculates the cost of water usage from an outlet on a per-minute and per-hour basis.

* Measures in either Metric units (litre, cubic meter) or US Customary units (gallons, cubic feet).

HOW IT WORKS: Place a container under your tap or water outlet to collect the water and use the app's built-in stopwatch to measure the time in seconds that it takes to fill. Enter the fill time and the app will calculate your water flow rate based on your container size and the time it took to fill. Very simple!

You can use any water container that you have on hand such as a bucket, bottle or can. If you do not know the container capacity, measure its inside dimensions and the app will calculate its capacity. For larger flows of water use a larger container. For very small flow rates and water leaks use a micro container such as a plastic bottle cap or a small cup. Choose a container size that will fill up in approximately 30-90 seconds.

Farmers can use the app to measure how much water is being applied by their irrigation devices or to measure the water output of springs, wells and water pumps. The app will also measure the nozzle flow rates on agricultural sprayers and many other applications.

The app will also calculate the capacity (volume) of any rectangular or round water container based on its inside dimensions, useful for finding the capacity of containers, tanks, reservoirs and swimming pools. For example, enter the diameter and height of a bucket to calculate its capacity.

Use your water flow and water cost information to save water at home during a drought, reduce your water bill or adjust irrigation and spraying equipment on the farm. Measure how much water is used by your existing home taps, showers, garden hoses and other water outlets and find out how much they are costing you per minute and per hour.

THE APP STORY: I developed this app as a tool to measure water consumption in homes so families could save water during the 2015 severe drought in California. Within a few days the app was featured on the TV news as a tool for water conservation. It has since been downloaded across 179 countries and is helping thousands of people understand and manage their water consumption around the world. A simple app that provides such valuable information for managing water scarcity and saving water.

In 2021 and 2022 the app is again very useful to manage water usage during the latest drought affecting California and the western United States. The app has been downloaded around the world and especially in places like south Asia, Middle East and Africa where it is helping people understand their water availability and usage.
