About the game
Meganoid is a challenging platformer, generating new levels on every play session. Find many items to enhance your character and his abilities while you descend down into the Meganoid space ship. Do you rush for the exit, or do you take your time to collect everything there is, barely escaping the security drones that will hunt you down if you linger.
Key features - Levels randomly generated on every game session, based on a set of templates, making the levels unique but familiar at the same time.
- A platformer with “roguelike” elements. Consumables, alternate routes, procedural generation, and many devices and gadgets add depth to the challenging gameplay of the original Meganoid
- A lot of collectible items that will change the main character’s abilities to navigate the world. Find a jetpack to start flying around, find anti-gravity-boots to perform double jumps, and much more.
- Hidden bonus area’s to find and unlock. Often providing you with a short-cut or very rare and powerful items.
- A hackable game world. Finding green key-cards allows you to modify how certain elements of the game act and respond to you. Stop rocket-launchers from working, make rockets fly less far, make destroyed robots drop extra lives.
- Unlock the database with info on all the items and enemies you encounter to be better prepared on your next try.
In true Meganoid tradition, you’ll die a lot in many different ways, but you’ll learn to overcome the difficulties, learn how the Meganoid world operates, and eventually get to the bottom of it!

Don't get me wrong I have played this game daily since I bought it, but there are some things people need to know. Firstly it's not in any way a "rogue like" game in that there is no real progression. It's more along the lines of" how far can I get before I die and start again in a random dungeon" game. Good for a quick pit stop but effing hard to get past more than 5 or 6 levels and no sense of accomplishment. I would love this remade into a platformer like random heroes. That would be super sweet. Personally I find the controls easy once you get used to them. Still fun but frustrating game.

Classic platformer with various nostalgic features. Great replay value, smooth controls, and variety. An example of a perfect indie platformer.

Classic Orange Pixel game. Solid retro graphics, high difficulty, varied levels and lots lots lots of items and enemies. Pay for it and no BS.

Better than ok but not great. Firstly, Meganoid (2017) is, without a doubt, worth the price. As a game on its own merit though it falls short of my expectations. Default controls are suboptimal and this leads to much frustration. Best played with a controller which cuts into the mobile appeal. The biggest problem here is that exploring is too rarely worth the risk. Upgrades and power ups are few and far between. Essentially, the player is forced to rely too heavily on skillfully wielding the poor controls rather than using wit or force to succeed. Still after all it's problems, I like the challenge of meganoid (2017) but I would understand if you hated it.

This game's title should be, "invisible threat suddenly ends your life" but just calling it cancer is more efficient. Roguelike/te has become a meaningless term. Once a label for games made by or for an intelligent audience, now it simply means either gachapon or "randomly unwinnable". Meganoid clearly lacks much play testing or critical thought. It relishes its place in the degrading mobile game market; "annoyed" doesn't begin to describe quitting from 1-1 or 1-2 fifty times in a row. 👎🏼
