Melch Surface Journal

Melch Surface Journal is a personal notebook for football pitches and your experience of playing on them. Record surface conditions, ball behavior and comfort after training or matches, then revisit your observations when you return to a ground.

Create player and pitch records
Keep separate player profiles with preferred positions and notes. Add pitches by name, a written location description, approximate dimensions and format. Choose natural grass, artificial turf, hybrid grass, indoor turf, hard ground or another surface type.

Record changing conditions
Save multiple observations for the same pitch on different dates. Describe dry, wet, damp, muddy, uneven, hard, soft or slippery conditions. Add personal ratings for evenness, traction, firmness and overall comfort.

Keep weather notes
Manually record conditions such as sunshine, rain, wind, heat or cold, with an optional approximate temperature. The app does not retrieve forecasts or use GPS to locate a pitch.

Describe ball behavior
Note bounce, rolling speed and perceived predictability. Record how comfortable passing, receiving, dribbling and shooting felt. These observations are personal impressions, not physical measurements of the surface.

Link notes to sessions
Record the date, activity type and duration of a training session or match. Connect it to a pitch observation so you can compare your experience on the same ground in different conditions.

Reflect on the experience
Rate ball control, passing, dribbling, shooting, movement, traction and general comfort. Describe difficulties such as unexpected bounce, poor grip, uneven ground or uncomfortable footing, and add your own interpretation of their significance.

Build a pitch collection
Browse grounds by name, surface type and personal rating. Keep favorite pitches, archive older records and return to previous notes. History and timelines show visits and changes in your observations over time.

Compare your entries
Review recorded pitch types, session totals and average subjective ratings. Compare grounds by traction, evenness, ball behavior and comfort. All summaries are based solely on information you enter.

Melch Surface Journal works offline without registration, camera, microphone, GPS, external APIs, cloud services, automatic weather detection or connections to football platforms. Profiles, pitch observations, session records and notes are stored locally on your device.

This is a personal experience journal, not a professional pitch assessment service. It does not determine whether a surface is safe for sport or provide automatic technical recommendations.
