Been playing merchant since the first one, and I can say Merchant Guilds is going in a good direction. It's incredibly fun and engaging gameplay loop I recommend if your into playing a crafter/merchant/Guild master.

Fans of the first Merchant will find lots to love here. The downsides are that the game is artificially time-gated by areas being exhausted with a reset timer, healing items are much harder to come by (can no longer just farm the "bush" stage like in Merchant 1), cost to upgrade buildings becomes astronomical, and for some reason, it chews through cel phone battery life. Wild on my top end phone. Would also love a port to Steam, so I can avoid that battery issue and run on my PC instead.

Pretty fun until mid-game (hero hall lvl 16) when the costs become astronomical, and you have to farm for days just to level 1 building once. It only gets worse from there. Drop rates feel as atrocious as in beta (I've killed Kunnigas with S rank 10+ times with no purple drop) and even if you do get a mega rare drop, chances are your Infusion will fail, and you just wasted it. Too many systems in this game are the opposite of fun, and others make no sense like how combat win % changes arbitrarily.

I've got 2 years into the prior merchant game. Have done everything there is to do on multiple saves. Was so excited to see a new version that took that old art style and maybe some new twist. This isn't it. They thought players would enjoy upgrading every aspect in the game, but it just makes it slow and tedious.

Fun, but abandoned. The lead dev quit, and the game discord is so dead the current dev team made a blanket announcement that said to give them a few years. There is a lot to do right now, but your own game is almost entirely dependent on having a guild with active players... and there are no more active players. My guild has 9 people and only 2 of us still play. We're still ranking up because other guilds have 0 active players. We can't make meaningful progress on our own tho, so it's pointless.
