Simple app in your device called Gauss Meter are used for measuring the Earth's magnetic field but can't detect silver, gold, copper coins (non-ferrous - no magnetic field).

I needed to find the iron stake that was a property marker. My metal detector was broke. Downloaded this app. The first thing detected was a large iron rock. So I knew the app was working. The second thing detected was the iron stake I was looking for. Absolutely works as described.

Couldn't find my water shutoff valve. Found this ap, turned it on and held it with a long grabber thing. Found the valve in 2 minutes. Amazed myself.

This app works for a couple seconds then prompts you to rate it or plays an ad. When you don't rate it, it freezes. Absolute waste of time. Can't even use it long enough to determine if it actually works!

I tested this with sound and vibration against a steel wire. It actually did work, but maximum range is about 1 inch with only air between the phone and steel. I would imagine that steel underground would significantly reduce the depth of reception.
