Features include: • 10 day regional forecasts for 29 rural regions • Severe weather information • 2 hourly wind, temperature and rainfall forecasts for the next 48 hours • 7.5 minute Rain Radar • 3 day and 5 day rainfall forecast imagery • The latest MetService TV Rural Outlook video • Daily past weather for the last seven days • User selected default location which is saved as the preference
The app does not include urban forecasts, marine information, mountain information or maps that are not included in the list above. The app is developed for smartphones and is not supported for tablets.

Works just like the original Met service app. Quick to load, easy access to rain radar etc. Highly recommend this over the main Met service app if you live (or live close to) a rural area.

So much more than Google or AccuWeather. Seems a day behind but NZ weather does play fast & loose! Thanks for this freebie, NZ Met Service. Jan'20 wouldn't open! Cleared cache, still 'couldn't connect with the server.' deleted & reinstall. Wait.....

I used this app for many years, but this week it doesn't work anymore. It keeps saying it can't find the server. Updated the phone, re-installed app, it still doesn't work. Just have to look outside to find out about the rural weather now 😑

Edit: used to be great, now just getting a prompt to connect to their server. All other internet connections are fine with other apps. It was great. This app is great. It has everything the evening weather has and more. When used in conjunction with WINDSURF you can be almost 100% sure of what's happening. Cheers FMG for making this app free. :-)

Has been the best, but recently it doesn't work. I hv been uninstalling it twice and downloaded again. After a few days it can't find its server. A friend says it's now only gives one day forecast. Waited.

Had been a great weather app but now keeps crashing. Will not open at all. Message says Rural weather has stopped. Close App.
