THIS ONE WORKS ! One important thing to remember is aside from controlling your Mic app per se, this Expert Systems Mic Lock supersedes the mic in your Camera app as well; You can lock the Camera with the Expert Systems Camera Lock to prevent video recording, but you need this Mic Lock to prevent recording of the Mic in your Camera app. Quite old school and I loved it ! I have purchased the Mic Lock, Sound Lock, and Camera Lock apps altogether in the FREE Device Control app ;-)

I'll leave a review here too. Currently running this app (I uninstalled the Device Control App) on a Nexus 6P with Android 8.0 beta. A few observations. It DOES work. But, using the "OK Google" command isn't a good test to see if the Microphone is Locked OFF. The Google Assistant will still work after the mic is locked OFF, but if you install a Voice Recording App you will find that the mic is really locked OFF and you won't be able to record until you enable the mic by tapping the Widget. So I can only assume that the Microphone is indeed OFF, and no nefarious agents can snoop and listen in to my conversations.

I originally bought the"DEVCTRL" app, which had Mic, sound, internet, and camera locks built into one. Everything was great, and since, I've changed phone's, providers, manual permissions for other apps. The support guys are fast, and they gave me new purchase codes for individual apps. Highly recommend developers. I must have screwed up my phone, or it's Verizon, or Google or worse, but, for example, administrator rights for Mic lock, has only "lock screen" available. Developer not to blame, they've been great. Sry for misexplaination.

It worked once. A friend called and he couldn't hear me. I toggled the switch, and then he could hear me. Shortly after that the app locked up. Neither the widget nor the app were functional. I restarted my phone and the app was still unresponsive. So I uninstalled it, reinstalled it, and it seemed to work again. It's a week later and now it's asking for a password. What password?! I never made an account! That seems funny. I wanted it to work. Too bad.
