Description
With Minerals Center you can identify a mineral, rock, crystal or stone. The key feature in this app is the mineral or rock identifier where the app can recognise and identify the mineral based on a given photo.
Minerals can also be searched on the most of the characteristics and they can be placed on a personal checklist.
The mineral search function has the ability to search by the mineral's crystal system, colors, lustres and the name.
Also included is the Minerals Center Hub which is a community function where we can share our minerals, stories, ask for id to other users.
This is what you van expect from the identify function:
- A crystal can be recognized pretty accurate because of the defined shapes and colors - Minerals are a bit harder to identify but based on colors and shapes, the app can recognize the mineral and look-a-likes - Stones and rocks are way harder to identify accurately because they have unlimited amounts of shapes and colors because they are combinations of extracted minerals.
When the identify function does not meet up with the expectations, try to set up a black or white background for the mineral, crystal or rock to identify and use the zoom and crop function to focus on the most typical part.
If you are a mineral digger, rockhound or collector, or just like to identify a rock, stone, crystal or mineral, you should get this app.

I just downloaded the app and tried it on one of the rocks I collected last weekend. If you are looking for something that will definitively identify a rock based on a photo, I doubt that any app can do that reliably. What this will do is give you an excellent starting point with a list of possibilities and the reliability of each. This saves a lot of time over going directly to a guidebook. I will be using this a lot.

★★☆☆☆
Tested this out on a desert rose (gypsum - calcium sulfate dehydrate) it came up with gaylussite, parasite, Flaubert. Not even remotely close to accurate
★★☆☆☆
Just downloaded and uninstalled today. I've looked up 5 different minerals and alot of the information is incorrect. Agate is not opaque. Limestone is not translucent. If the basic info is wrong this is useless. If I could put 0 stars I would but had to put 1
