Jede Ausgabe besteht aus Fachartikeln und Übungsaufgaben zu jeweils lehrplanrelevanten Themen der Metallberufe. Hier findet jeder Leser etwas, egal ob im 1., 2. oder 3. Ausbildungsjahr. Zur einfachen Orientierung sind die einzelnen Beiträge bzw. Tests jeweils einer konkreten Rubrik zugeordnet.
• die Fachbeiträge bzw. Wissenstest sind in sich geschlossen, maximal drei Seiten lang und zur Verständlichkeit in einer unkomplizierten Sprache verfasst. Dadurch lassen sie sich auch ohne großen Zeitaufwand in einem Zug lesen oder bearbeiten. Außerdem kann dadurch jede Ausgabe bequem etappenweise durchgelesen/bearbeitet werden.
• anhand der Ergebnisse bei den Testaufgaben kann der Leser auf einfache Weise ermitteln, wie gut er bereits auf anstehende Prüfungen vorbereitet ist.
• durch die monatliche Erscheinungsweise kann die „Moderne Metalltechnik“ im Vergleich zu Fachbüchern kurzfristig über aktuelle Änderungen – beispielsweise im Bereich der Normung – informieren.
