Comments on Monash University FODMAP diet for Android
★★★★★
I was astonished by the effect of mango soda pop (instant diarrhea) so I decided to do a proper audit of my entire diet by starting with the 2 to 6-week low FOD MAP diet recommended by the app. First step is to only eat low FOD MAP foods. Then reintroduce your favorite foods one-by-one to identify the culprits upsetting one's tummy. The app's food guide provides a list of all the low FOD MAP foods, and you simply select them from the full list and save them in the app for your next food shopping.
★★★★★
Just started using this app, and it seems good, but I wish you could turn the photos off (the images of stool are helpful to start, but I don't enjoy seeing them every time I open the food diary!)
★★★★★
Really convenient to see what and how much of a product you can have on the low fodmap diet. There are also some local products (you can filter by country) and change settings for which specific fodmaps you do or don't tolerate. The Monash website offers more recipes than the app though.
★★★★★
Really like this app, but sometimes when you search for a food, you see just a green light, so you think the food is low fodmap for all categories. But when you click on the food, one or more of the triggers is red. Some food entries in the list have multiple lights & multiple serving sizes, indicating from the list view that the user should click to investigate for their individual needs. Including both the lights would be better. Being able to filter recipes & search by fodmap would be great.
★★☆☆☆
Not worth it. Google informs you better. Based on Australian suppliers and sponsors. No numeric info. Just a red, orange or green light which isn't informative. Clunky app. Also: I am very confused why foods high in raffinose are NOT included in the diet. Raffinose consist of galactose, glucose and fructose. Raffinose is the main reason people can't digest kale.
★★☆☆☆
How does a paid, diet app, NOT have a search by food type function, and instead is filled with brands and sponsored foods?!? This is absolutely infuriating. Update: got my money back. Anyone looking for an app that you can type in food to see if it's in the list, this is not it. Veggies and fruits you can look through the list, but I wanted to know basmati rice; just that is not in the list of grains, and instead is a bunch of sponsored foods that I can't even buy. Horrible app.
★★☆☆☆
Not the greatest app. Was recommended by my dietician for the low FOD MAP diet, a lot of things missing, if you search for generic words such as gravy, certain spices, sauces etc. you don't get any results, a bit of a shame when you have to pay for the app. A lot of the branded foods are for the US and Australia so not a great app if you live elsewhere
★★☆☆☆
The search UI is basically useless because it forces OR as the only search option. So for example, if you search for "white grape juice" it will search for white OR grape OR juice. Then it will show you every item that contains one of those words. So you get every possible juice, every food item with the word "white" in it and every food item with grapes in it. It ignores quotation marks, so you can't get grape juice by searching for "grape juice."
