Description by Heisforyou (from Google Play)

Charles Spurgeon’s Morning and Evening is one of the most beloved and enduring daily devotionals in Christian history. Written by the 19th-century British preacher Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834–1892), it consists of two brief meditations for every day of the year—one for the start of the day and one for its close.

Each entry begins with a short Scripture verse, followed by a page-long reflection. Spurgeon’s writing is characterized by its "biblical richness, extraordinary eloquence, and practical application." Known for his "Prince of Preachers" title, he possessed a unique ability to weave together deep theological insights with a warm, pastoral tone.

The devotionals aim to help believers "abide in Christ" and find spiritual refreshment amidst daily trials. Spurgeon believed that the morning and evening were critical spiritual "thresholds" that should be guarded with prayer and meditation.

Note: On first launch, the Play button may take a few seconds to initialize.

Convenience: Integrated audio is provided to make the devotional material easier to digest and more accessible on the go.

Typeface: The font in this app was chosen for clarity and ease of reading. While Spurgeon’s vocabulary can feel dated or complex at times, a highly readable typeface helps make his rich language more profitable.

Comments on Morning and Evening Devotional for Android

★★★★★ Keagen Cothern · Aug 10, 2026

Well done! Simple app for a simple purpose. UI is clean and good-looking. Notifications for reading work great, and I like the sun and moon notification icons, a nice touch. Out-loud reading is great too. 3 minor suggestions for additional features: a calendar selection views in case you had a day you wanted to go directly to, a bookmark/favorite function to save your favorite devotional entries, and text format/font adjustment capabilities - I would prefer the text not be centered, for example.

★★★★★ Jamey Kirk · Apr 16, 2026

This app is exceptional. Well-designed and without bloat. Plus, there's little to fiddle with. It's handy to have the text with the audio as it can be a little dense at times. Lots more to mention (reminders, widgets, simplicity) but I'm getting carried away. One thing though, wish there were a block of highlighted text that syncs up with the audio.

Beautiful and clean interface, with the perfect amount of configuration without being complex. This is an excellent daily scriptures' app. No ads, no subscriptions, and completely open source. These are the signs of a developer who is truly passionate about their project, and just wants to share their work with others. I hope the developer sees plenty of success in the future ❤️
